APCC is renovating the western
portion of its property to welcome
the surrounding community and
activate the underutilized space. Centered on a 100+-year-old English yew tree, the churchyard sits at the original grade of Broadway Street: about 5 feet below the current sidewalk. This grading challenge presents the opportunity to shape a sunken garden for community members and the church congregation alike. Some of the special features of the site, which is being constructed spring 2014, include new identity signage, brick retaining walls, raingardens, venues for weddings, temporary screening for events, and a meditation and labyrinth area.
