Work on this project provided the chance to use roof gardens and raingardens.  An overhang in the central courtyard of the school was outfitted with a roof garden via pre-grown tray system and integrated irrigation. Situated outside the windows of the second-story library, students were afforded views of roof garden, ball field and the foothills of the Cascades beyond.  An extensive raingarden layout allowed catchment of nearly all of the car parking and bus drop off pavement.  Rain garden planting included the seasonal red- and yellow-stemmed dogwoods, willows and rushes, all contributing to a beautiful and functional stormwater feature throughout the year.
